Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra's Concept

Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra was born on 14th September 1888 at the village Himaitpur, district Pabna of Bangladesh in a Brahmin family. He was the founder of ‘Satsang’. Shiva Chandra Chakravorty was his father and Monomahini Devi was his mother. He was an avatar, a pure souled man.

Sri Sri Thakur established the Sat sang Ashram at Deoghar, in the district of Jharkhand, India. It is the man making Institution. He defined the word 'Sat' as 'Existence' and 'Satsang' brings together the devotee to existence. The Ideology of Sri Sri Thakur learns us the way of making coordination between individuals or oneself, the living Ideal and the existing environment around us.

He believed that one Ideal or Guru is required in one's life. It is our duty to attach ourselves to the living ideal and expose all our wishes, activities centering Him. We are just like bulbs. As the bulbs don't enlighten without the supply of electricity or source of energy, similarly we don't be able to enlighten us without the attachment of the Living Ideal. Sri Sri Thakur says that only the concentric life of the individual to the Ideal can save the world from disintegration.

Sri Sri Thakur gave the meaning of the words inventively, clarifying the root of each word. He distinguished between the words 'poverty' and 'pauperism'. He has not defined 'poverty' comparing to the monetary status. His concept is quite different. He meant the poor are those who have lost ideals, morals, values, etc. in their life. Poverty is the reflection of their lifestyle. He made a link between pauperism and poverty. He said that poverty is a disease and pauperism means to be afflicted with poverty. People may be poor(financially) generation after generation but still not be classed with paupers.

The Characteristics of Poverty are

1.Disability to surrender to superior Beloved- A man without ideal or superior beloved. Surrender means to give oneself up over to an ideal beyond himself. He has no urge as interest for his Superior Beloved to fulfill with service; and if it is, he places him as the symbol of the influence of his own complexes. Such type of man’s libido never fulfills others with uphill enthusiasm or never be satisfied actively to be fulfilled upon someone.
2.Motor Sensory In-coordination- When libido runs distortedly, in-coordination or distorted coordination comes and it never influences man's thoughts, judgments, and considerations.
3.Irresponsibility- In-coordination of motor and sensory nerve influences his thoughts and activities simultaneously. Motor nerve never is active in response according to sensory impulse. So, irresponsibility comes automatically.
4.Pessimism- It is the characteristics of poverty. The incoherence of motor and sensory nerves influences him as a pessimist and idle. He never wants to involve in any work. His engagements seem to him as injustice, deceitfulness becomes justified to him to fulfill the necessities of living, influenced by complexes.
5.Will to ugliness- People eager to enjoy the materialistic life. Sometimes the portraits of the goddess may come as to fulfill their complexes.
6.The practice of deception,
7)Ingratitude,
8)Fault finder,
9)Envy,
10)Egoism,
11)Devotion to a miracle,
12)Inability to pay proper respect,
13)Poly-orthodox character(Source: Nanaprasangee, vol-III, p-120-123)

Thakur's Concepts of Alleviating Poverty:

1. First of all to be concentric upon superior personality as Superior Beloved to protect their personality and individuality from the hands of disintegrated complexes. In a word, he would be the fulfiller of the wishes of superior Beloved which can make coordination in motor-sensory to be responsive to society.
2. To reform those, sometimes have to represent some pose of hope, sympathy, service, etc. and to excite everybody’s profitable inquisitiveness.
3. Development of agriculture- he defined agriculture as “agreed by all culture is agriculture”. He gave stress upon agriculture because it is good; as life would be self-dependent rather than on other’s dependence. (Alochona Prasange, vol-III, p-226)
4. Industry- According to him the definition of industry is- ‘building up from within’. The amusing mood has to bring in work to make individual industrious. The industry will come with marriage reformation. He gave stress on the establishment of Domestic industries where capital investment is comparatively low, has the chance to input own innovativeness, be self-employed. He also included service basis industries.
5. The progressive mood has to establish in society- marriage reformation, industrialization, normal diet, and mode of living, elevating engagement, service basis industries- purpose to serve others.
6. Education should be based on elevating intellectualism and divided into three parts- physical, psychological and dynamic. He told that tendering to impart education through service in an inquisitive acquisition, thoroughly molded in a practical shape ultimately on the basis of living and growth of the human being, the proper techniques of manufacture and manipulation would be to supply the practical needs of every individual environment, it may be with a branch of education or including all branches of education. Such type of common sense would be applied which can provide the techniques of a useful life.
7. Remove the concept of touch ability and untouchability.
8.Uplift of the depressed and distressed people.
