Devotion means the continuous affection to the Ideal, attachment to the truth is devotion. If the devotion of a person becomes concentrated to his/her beloved, the love takes birth to that Ideal to whom the person can devote. So, when affection grows to the Ideal, the intensity to do something for him and to please him in all way, come in the core of the heart.   To make him please, what are the obstacles in the way to work and how to overcome them – these sense come automatically in his mind. Gradually, the person becomes wise and sensitive. The Indian philosophy expresses that the devotional connection brings affection to work and wisdom.

To the Hindus, Christians, Islams, Buddhists and all others religious people; the living Ideal is their initiator or Guru. For example- Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Sankaracharya to the Hindus, Goutam Buddha to the Buddhists, Mahavir Jain to the Jains, Hazrat Muhammad to Islams,Jesus Christ to the Christians. The Guru is the Initiator. He learns how to love, the way of being and becoming. The Initiator gives the naming sounds (Mantras) to the disciples by which they can meditate to his God.

It is only devotion which makes us very conscious, intellectual, tired less and active worker. In real example we may find in the life of Swami Vivekananda, the disciple of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa. The high affection (Bhakti) to Sri Ramakrishna made him ‘Karma yogi’. After coming back from America, Swami Vivekananda addressed a lecture in Madras paying reverence to his Initiator ----“Let me conclude by saying that if in my life I have told one word of truth it was his alone, and if I have told you many things which were not true, correct and beneficial to the human race, it was all mine and on me is the responsibility.” (Madras Lecture- Swamiji). In the words of Sri Ramakrishna - when a child, not being able to find his /her mother, cry in a crazy manner, then the mother comes and feeds milk. Like that a man can feel the presence of God  or receives the blessings of God if he cries eagerly for God.

If we in heartedly love our Guru or Ideals and fulfill his wish, as a result, affection grows upon him and his wealth and divine power automatically transfers in us.

In December, 1892, Vivekananda had been absorbed in religious meditation for three days sitting on the last stone of Kanyakumari at the end of his long journey which started from 3rd August, 1890. The picture of past, present and future of India and ways of solution of problems of India were depicted in front of his eyes through his meditation.

Later on, Swamiji decided to go to America to join in the 'World Religion Conference' according to the profound wish of the public of Madras and ordained by God (Sri Ramakrishna commended him in an astral body and Sree Maa Sarada Devi gave him permission from Kamarpukur). On 11th September, 1893, he delivered speech in World Religion Conference. His faith and love to ‘Guru’ brought his success.

Indian Theories

In the world, India is the largest democracy with a secular constitution. All religious people are living with brotherly love in the mother land and they pay proper respect to all religious people. The major religious practices are- Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Sikhism and Buddhism. The Indian scriptures are- The Vedas, The Upanishads, Sreemad Bhagwad Gita. The greatest epics are the Ramayana and the Mahavarata. The prophets like Goutam Buddha, Mahavir Jain, Sree Ramkrishna Paramhansha, Swami Vivekananda etc. influenced the social and ethical behavior in India through their philosophy of life. The 'Vedanta' is known as the school of Indian philosophy.

The 'Vedanta' learns the existence of 'Brahma' and He is the only truth. The goal of the 'Vedanta' is to achieve the attributes of Brahma. The creatures can know the existence of Brahma by breaking the cycle of birth and rebirth in three ways-

i)Jana-means the way of knowledge. It leads to tolerance. It is the self realization that knowledge is endless.

ii)Bhakti-means the way of devotion. It is the belief that all knowledge were codified in the past and will remain valid forever in the future.
iii)Karma-means the way of action.
The Hindu ethics is based on the Epics and the Scriptures. It learns the value spectrum of a good life and moral code to good behavior. The 'Vedas' are concerned with 'right action' for fulfillment of life or evolution of soul.

In conclusion, it is told that Indian philosophy and religion influenced Indian Ethics. Spiritual union with God is the main object of the human life. All things are to be done (Karma) attaching with God. 'Bhakti' is only way through which we can feel the attributes of 'Brahma' easily.
