Women Entrepreneurs Can Enter Into Male Fortress

At the age of global economy in 21st century, two remarkable trends are emerging 1) Women ownership in business and 2)International Trade business. Among world's total human resources, women have occupied more than fifty percent. Women are involving themselves in traditional and in new ventures. The number of women entrepreneurs in India is small comparing to the total population of the country (10- 12%) but they are still now fighting against social discrimination, skills and the credit. They have achieved their position as an entrepreneur in certain areas of production, such as garment making, dress designing, food producing etc. and trading in ready made garments, herbal products, handicrafts etc. In the rural areas or in remote villages, the women are maintaining their family through ownership of cottage industries. Now they are entering into the male dominated profession as running hotels, taxi and auto driving, leadership in an organization, computer and mathematical occupation etc.

In a developing country like India, women found so many constraints to be an entrepreneur. Like male entrepreneurs they have to face so many roles as risk taking, new innovative ideas, knowledge of coordination in administration, capability to control the business, effective leadership quality in dealing business. But a woman will appear as an entrepreneur, it is the main constraints. Even women borrowers are considered as higher risk to the bankers than men borrowers. In issuing loan, the bankers put unrealistic and unreasonable securities.

The Present Scenario Of India:

i)India is a developing country. Here most of women entrepreneurs have low returns but the few cross over into men dominated segment.
ii)Women cross over when parents or husbands hold up them.
iii)The additional supports are needed to cross over in return and to build networks and to overcome social discrimination.

Why Do Women Be Good Entrepreneurs?

i)They have better natural management quality and problem solving skills.

ii)They are good communicator and have the capability of public relationship making.

iii)Generally women take ‘calculated’ risks.
iv)They are more conscious regarding loan repayment.
v)They are habituate to do multitask jobs.

Problems Associated With Women Entrepreneurs In India?

i)Women hold their controlling share but men help to run the business.
ii)The traditional attitudes provide scopes of job but not to be entrepreneurs.
iii)In a family, they are treated as additional income provider through engaging them in a job.
iv)Few women have better knowledge and experience regarding confident and successful women entrepreneurs in world wide.
v)It is a great constrain for women entrepreneurs to acquire land in long distance.
vi)Easy availability of loan for women entrepreneurs.
vii)Lack of confidence in marketing.

What Are Women Entrepreneurs Getting Supports?

i)EDI started programmes with well designed courses at the high school level in Gujarat.
ii)World Bank sponsored programme has helped in different states to develop separate polytechnics for women.
iii)NGOs like RUDSET in Karnataka are handling the programme to develop women entrepreneurship.
iv)The scheme of Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) giving the financial assistance in rural areas.
v)Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) is giving assistance for finance and trading activities.
vi)Some Banks like Bandhan Bank is providing small loan for low income groups women.
vii)NABARD under the IRDP providing finance and training.
viii)Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI)’s Mahila Udyam Nidhi giving assistance to the projects up to 10 lakh.

How To Cover The Gap Of Promoting More Women Entrepreneurs?

i)Industry-institute partnership is required to promote women entrepreneurship.
ii)Government would have to take more initiative to establish industrial training institutes in wider range and training will be introduced in high school level.
iii)Banks would have to be more liberal to the women entrepreneurs.
iv)Government has to take steps to distribute lands or shades to encourage  women entrepreneurs.

In conclusion we can consider that the industry- institute partnership cell is required  to promote women entrepreneurship in educational institutes basically in technical institutes. The assets would be by name of the women and the financiers will treat them with dignity. The women would get their own right. Proper training and inspiration and full support would be given from Government's end. They must be understood from the school level that as a woman they are not alone, they have the right to stand on their own feet and they can compete the  male entrepreneurs and renovate the world economy by entering into the entrepreneurship.
